Decisions and Feelings
--by DAYSOUNDS © 2008-17

Should we be guided by feelings? It depends.

God has created our conscious minds, and God has created feelings.

If we have strong feelings about something, let's check them out
under the light of God's Word: The Holy Bible.

Are those feelings moved by agape (holy, unselfish) love
or by our flesh, leading us or someone else
to sin, to hurt
ourselves or another person, to disobey God's commandments?

If those feelings are moved by the flesh, we should not only
refuse to be guided by them, but we should consciously take
the decision not to entertain in our minds any thoughts related
to them.

On the other hand, if those feelings are moved by agape love,
we should be guided by them, rejecting any kind of thought,
advice, reading, internal or external stimulus that will try to
make us depart from that good, loving, holy decision.

Some parents, especially fathers, have left spouse and/or children
thinking they were obeying God by going into His service without the
family. It is a very sad mistake. God didn't mean that when He said,
"He that loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me;
and he that loves son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me."
(Matthew 10:37)

God does certainly use anyone who speaks about His salvation,
but it is His passive (permissive) will, not His active will.

The primary ministry of a human being is his/her spouse (if they
are married), and their minor children (if they have them--
whether or not the couple is still married, or one has lost
the spouse to death, divorce, or separation).

If the Lord has not spoken in that matter (even to tell us to wait),
and the decision we are pondering is not sinful nor can it lead
to sin, we have a yellow light: We can proceed with caution.
God has made us free and wants us to make our own decisions.
Let us not go through a red light, nor stand still at a green
light. And let us remember the old saying, "If in doubt, do nought."
